INTRODUCTION

The Bishop Sargant Pre- University College was established in 2004.

The P.U. College is an off-shoot of the Bishop Sargant School which began in 1990 by the management of CSI Vocational Centre, Tumkur. The CSI Vocational Centre, Bishop Sargant School and Bishop Sargant P.U. College are institutions run by the Karnataka Central Diocese of Church of South India, which runs a variety of educational institutions. The college has the advantage of basing itself in the experience of its parental institute.

The Bishop Sargant P.U. Every year our students are taken for various field trips, industrial visits, science exhibitions, educational camps etc., to gain practical knowledge in technological advancements , to enhance their working skill, to inculcate team work, to communicate and interact in society.

ADMISSION

The application forms for the I PU course will be issued at both college and school offices according to the dates announced by the Pre-University Board of Karnataka, After the announcement of SSLC results of Karnataka State.

ICSE and CBSE students need to buy application forms from the college or school office as per the dates announced by the PU Board. The candidate should submit the filled in application on the same day or the next day itself of the announcement of class X results along with the down loaded copy of the marks statement.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
SSLC/ ICSE/ CBSE or any EQUIVALENT EXAMINATION.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Admission will be done based on the merit list prepared according to the total marks scored in the annual examination of class X.

The students who join our college with lot of hope and energy are guided by elite faculty. They constantly monitor the performance of the students both curricular and extra- curricular, and help them to set higher goals and strive for its accomplishments.

The academic year begins on 1 st June every year and ends on 31 st march. The academic year of college shall consist of two terms which shall ordinarily begin and end as:

COLLEGE ACTIVITIES:

Within limits, provision is made for the proper development of extra-curricular activities. Games and sports play a large and important part in the all-round development of our students. Students are encouraged to participate in team games, individual games, athletics and physical fitness programmes.

Cultural activities such as music, dance and drama provide opportunities for entertainment and the development of cultural interests. The College Choir every year participates in the Christmas Carol Service.

We also have Constructive Thinking Programmes such as quiz contests, debates, elocutions, essay writing, Dumb Charades and speech contests. Creative Thinking Programmes include art, crafts, floral arrangement, vegetable carving, rangoli, Collage, Model making and other college competitions. These activities are designed to improve the students’ creative ability and aesthetic sensibilities.

PARENTS’ CORNER

During admission, the parents are informed about the orientation programme on the first day of their wards attending the college. Parents are also assured on the safety measures and confidence is instilled in them to feel free to approach the authorities whenever needed.

During periodical parent teacher meetings, parents are appraised on quality measures taken by the institute to provide quality education for their wards. Feed back taken from the parents help us to make appropriate remedial changes whenever needed.

The progress report is given to the parents in person during parents – teacher meetings. The class teacher discusses the progress of the students with the parent and suggests remedial course if needed. The parents are kept informed about the progress of the ward and PTA meetings through SMS or phone call.
